Your First Session

Your First Session

This first meeting is a chance for us both to explore the issues you want to bring to counselling and to consider whether we feel we will be able to work together successfully.

If you have never seen a counsellor before you may be be unsure of what to expect, or even feel a little apprehensive. That's perfectly normal!

When you arrive at the counselling centre you will be 'buzzed in' by the receptionist who will direct you to the waiting area. When it is time for our session I will come and collect you and show you to one of our counselling rooms. These are comfortable, medium-sized rooms that typically contain a pair of comfortable armchairs and a low table.

During the session we will talk about your reasons for seeking counselling and I will also tell you about the type of counselling I offer. Towards the end of the session we will discuss whether we feel that this type of counselling will be suitable for you.

Our initial meeting may be up to an hour and a quarter in length and if we decide to work together subsequent sessions will each be 50 minutes long.and occur weekly at an agreed time.
